The Committee notes with satisfaction the suppression of inhuman practices discriminating against women, as well as the adoption of the Elimination of Violence against Women Act in 2009; the establishment of the 10-year National Action Plan for the Women of Afghanistan, which pays due attention to economic, social and cultural rights; and the creation of the Ministry of Women's Affairs in 2008.
