Noting the continuity between the work to be done by the Council/Forum and that undertaken at previous and planned sessions of the World Water Forum, the Commission on Sustainable Development and other bodies, he stressed the importance of a clean environment to sustainable development and described water as a precious element and key to both.
ومشيراً إلى العمل الذي ينتظر أن يضطلع به المجلس/المنتدى والأعمال المنجزة في الدورات السابقة والمخطط لها للمنتدى العالمي للمياه واللجنة المعنية بالتنمية المستدامة والهيئات الأخرى، أكد على أهمية وجود بيئة نظيفة للتنمية المستدامة ووصف الماء بأنه عنصر ثمين وأساسي للاثنين معاً.

Every three years, the organization catalyses initiatives, activities and lessons learned, the results of which converge towards its flagship product: the World Water Forum.

185. The United Nations played an active role in the World Water Forum held in The Hague in 2000, where discussions focused on strategies for the sustainable management of water resources and their related coastal and marine environments.

This is the challenge that the World Water Forum is designed to cope with through international cooperation.

Responding to the needs identified by the World Water Forum and the UN World Water Development Report, the IAEA works in partnership with organizations such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and FAO and with institutes and national authorities responsible for the study and management of water.

The Subcommittee continued its discussion on the preparation of the biennial World Water Development Report, which is expected for publication in 2002 as part of the newly established World Water Assessment Programme, to be developed in line with the recommendation by the World Water Forum in The Hague.

The need for creating a mechanism for the collaboration of water utilities is highlighted in the " Hashimoto Action Plan " , which was announced by the United Nations Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation during the fourth session of the World Water Forum in Mexico.
وقد أُبرزت الحاجة إلى إنشاء آلية للتعاون بين مرافق المياه في " خطة عمل هاشيموتو " التي أعلنها المجلس الاستشاري المعني بالمياه والصرف الصحي التابع للأمين العام للأمم المتحدة خلال الدورة الرابعة للمنتدى العالمي للمياه المعقودة في المكسيك.

This will include working through existing international partnerships such as the World Water Council, the Water Alliance, the World Water Forum and its ministerial conference, the Rainwater Partnership and the Global Water Partnership and will also include forming other relevant partnerships as necessary.
