26- ولدى الرد على سؤال آخر قال إنه على الرغم من أنه صحيح أن أكثر من نصف السجناء هم من المحتجزين في انتظار المحاكمة، فإن الغالبية العظمى منهم لا يحتجزون إلاّ للفترة التي ينص عليها القانون، أي أربعة أشهر في حالة الإجراءات القضائية الاعتيادية، و60 يوماً في حالة الإجراءات الموجزة، وإذا تجاوز الاحتجاز قبل المحاكمة فترة 15 شهراً فإن القانون يقضي بإطلاق سراح المحتجز ذي الصلة.
