It took note of the provisions of General Assembly resolution 58/240 dealing with training courses to assist developing States in the preparation of their submissions and capacity-building, including capacity-building for the production of nautical charts.

In that respect, I wish to draw attention to resolution 55/7, entitled " Oceans and the law of the sea " , of 30 October 2000, whereby the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to establish a voluntary Trust Fund to assist developing States in the settlement of disputes through the Tribunal.

With regard to the delineation of the outer limits of the continental shelf, the Division continued to deliver training courses, at the subregional level, to assist developing States in the preparation of submissions to the Commission and has identified a new mechanism for the facilitation of the access of developing States to the trust fund for the purpose of facilitating the preparation of submissions to the Commission (see para. 398 below).
