By virtue of article 9, paragraph 2, even in the absence of any agreement of the parties to that effect, the parties to an international sales contract may nevertheless be bound by specific trade usages, as long as these trade usages are usages that the parties knew or ought to have known and which in international trade are widely known to, and regularly observed by, parties to contracts of the type involved in the particular trade concerned.
