24. The Basel Convention's provisions relative to ESM hazardous and other waste infrastructure have linkages to the Framework Convention on Climate Change, in that engineered landfills designed to recapture methane resulting from waste decomposition will reduce greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change, and can contribute to economical generation of energy for use by communities.
