Two new civil aviation treaties were adopted during the reporting period: the Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Relating to International Civil Aviation (Beijing Convention) and the Protocol Supplementary to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft (Beijing Protocol).

A diplomatic conference held in 2010 under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) adopted the Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Relating to International Civil Aviation (Beijing Convention), which criminalizes the act of using civil aircraft as weapons, and the act of using biological, chemical and nuclear weapons or similar substances to attack civil aircraft or other targets.
في مؤتمر دبلوماسي عُقد عام 2010 تحت رعاية منظمة الطيران المدني الدولي، اعتُمدت اتفاقية قمع الأعمال غير المشروعة المتعلقة بالطيران المدني الدولي (اتفاقية بيجين) التي تجرّم استخدام الطائرات المدنية كأسلحة، واستخدام الأسلحة البيولوجية والكيميائية والنووية أو ما شابهها من مواد لشنّ الهجمات على الطائرات المدنية وغيرها من الأهداف.

The CANZ countries welcomed the recent adoption of the Beijing Convention on the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Relating to International Civil Aviation and the Protocol Supplementary to the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft, and they would pursue efforts to conclude the draft comprehensive convention on international terrorism.
