In paragraph 17 of resolution 52/152, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the implementation of the Programme during 1998 and 1999 and, following consultations with the Advisory Committee on the Programme, to submit recommendations regarding the execution of the Programme in subsequent years.

The present report has been prepared pursuant to paragraph 16 of General Assembly resolution 52/128 of 12 December 1997, entitled “National institutions for the promotion and protection of human rights”, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the implementation of the resolution.

The Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the role of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in assisting the Government and the people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights and on the recommendations made by the Special Representative on matters within his mandate.

The present report has been prepared in response to General Assembly resolution 53/183 of 15 December 1998, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit to it at its fifty-fourth session a report on the special session for an overall review and appraisal of the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development.

1. In its resolution 52/23 of 25 November 1997, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to submit to it at its fifty-fourth session a comprehensive report on the implementation of resolution 50/11 of 2 November 1995.

In its resolution 53/191 of 15 December 1998, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the outcome of the second session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, particularly in Africa, as well as on measures adopted by the Conference at that session.

1. The present report, covering the period July 1998–August 1999, is submitted in pursuance of General Assembly resolution 53/78 C of 4 December 1998, by which the Assembly, inter alia, requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the activities of the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament in Africa.
١ - يُقدم هذا التقرير، الذي يغطي الفترة من تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٨ حتى آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٩، عملا بقرار الجمعية العامة ٥٣/٧٨ جيم المؤرخ ٤ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٨، الذي طلبت فيه الجمعية العامة من اﻷمين العام، في جملة أمور، أن يقدم إليها في دورتها الرابعة والخمسين تقريرا عن أنشطة مركز اﻷمم المتحدة اﻹقليمي للسلم ونزع السلاح في أفريقيا.

5. Requests the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the implementation of the present resolution, and decides to include in the agenda of the fifty-fourth session the item entitled “Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources”.
٥ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم إليها في دورتها الرابعة والخمسين تقريرا عن تنفيذ هذا القرار، وتقرر أن تدرج في جدول أعمال دورتها الرابعة والخمسين البند المعنون " السيادة الدائمة للشعب الفلسطيني في اﻷرض الفلسطينية المحتلة، بما فيها القدس، وللسكان العرب في الجولان السوري المحتل على مواردهم الطبيعية " .

3. In resolution 53/117 the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to it at its fifty-fourth session on the implementation of the resolution, with a special focus on national and international developments.
