Further encourages Member States to take measures to protect witnesses in cases of smuggling of migrants, as called for in the Organized Crime Convention, to take appropriate measures to provide for the effective protection of witnesses who testify in criminal proceedings and, as appropriate, their relatives, including protection from potential retaliation, and to strengthen international cooperation in this area;
