The Conference also invited UNESCO to consider launching a global initiative on biodiversity education, training and public awareness and requested the Executive Secretary to explore the feasibility of such an initiative and to report to the Conference at its fifth session on the progress made in that regard.
ودعا المؤتمر أيضا منظمة اﻷمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة )اليونسكو( إلى النظر في إطلاق مبادرة عالمية بشأن التثقيف والتدريب والتوعية في مجال التنوع البيولوجي. وطلب إلى اﻷمين التنفيذي أن يستكشف إمكانية الاضطلاع بهذه المبادرة، وأن يقدم إلى المؤتمر في دورته الخامسة تقريرا عن التقدم المحرز في ذلك الصدد.
