- tobacco growing. Countries should be assisted in identifying economically viable alternative activities for tobacco growers and others whose livelihoods depend on tobacco growing.

In particular, the FAO study entitled " Projections of tobacco production, consumption and trade to the year 2010 " helped to provide additional evidence to deconstruct the myth diffused by the tobacco industry that tobacco control would shatter the livelihoods of individuals engaged in tobacco growing and trade;
