24. Although seeming to treat all troop-contributing Member States equally, this option would not necessarily ensure that the death or injury of a soldier would result in equal benefits or indeed in any benefit being paid if a Member State did not choose to use the monthly payment for the establishment of a compensation scheme.
٢٤ - وعلى الرغم من أن هذا الخيار يعامل جميع الدول اﻷعضاء المساهمة بقوات على قدم المساواة، فيما يبدو، فإنه لا يضمن بالضرورة بأن وفاة أحد الجنود أو اصابته ستسفر عن دفع استحقاقات متساوية أو بالفعل دفع أي استحقاقات إذا عمدت إحدى الدول اﻷعضاء إلى عدم استخدام المبلغ الذي يدفع شهريا لوضع برنامج للتعويض.

The amount due to Member States is in respect of reimbursement of troop costs, for which certain troop-contributing Member States have requested UNTAC to postpone payment until further instructions are received from them, and advance payments by some Member States.

24. After these payments, unrecorded obligations in respect of reimbursement for extra and extraordinary costs to troop-contributing Member States amount to some $202 million, against which $6.4 million in outstanding pledged voluntary contributions could be offset.
