Stresses further that the United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty should contribute to achieving the targets of halving, by 2015, the proportion of the world's people whose income is less than one dollar a day and the proportion of people who suffer from hunger, through decisive national action and strengthened international cooperation;
" 3 - تؤكد أيضا أن عقد الأمم المتحدة للقضاء على الفقـر ينبغي أن يسهـم في تحقيق الهدفين المتمثلين في تخفيض نسبة من يقل دخلهم اليومي عن دولار واحد ونسبة من يعانون من الجوع من سكان العالم إلى النصف بحلول سنة 2015 وذلك عن طريق انتهاج إجراءات وطنية حاسمة وتعزيز التعاون الدولي؛

8. Invites the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, within the framework of the implementation of the United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty, to continue giving appropriate attention to the question of human rights and extreme poverty;
8 - تدعو مفوض الأمم المتحدة السامي لحقوق الإنسان إلى أن يواصل، ضمن إطار تنفيذ عقد الأمم المتحدة للقضاء على الفقر، إيلاء الاهتمام المناسب لمسألة حقوق الإنسان والفقر المدقع؛

Halfway through the United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty, and in spite of all the commitments we have made over the years to reduce poverty and to accelerate the pace of social and economic development throughout the world, the gap between the rich and the poor is widening and the absolute number of poor people, especially in the developing world, is increasing.
ومع انتصاف عقد الأمم المتحدة للقضاء على الفقر، ورغم كل الالتزامات التي قطعناها على أنفسنا عبر السنين لخفض الفقر وتسريع معدل التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية في جميع أنحاء العالم، نجد أن الفجوة بين الأغنياء والفقراء آخذة في الاتساع، كما أن عدد الفقراء، لا سيما في العالم النامي، آخذ في الازدياد.

In this context, we call for decisive and concrete action by the international community to assist developing countries in their efforts to reduce poverty globally during the First United Nations Decade for the Eradication of Poverty.
