It was further mentioned that in global terms, military expenditure had risen over the years and that the United Nations Register on Conventional Arms and the United Nations Standardized Instrument for Reporting on Military Expenditures need to improve their respective roles and capacity, among others, in order to prevent the transfer of sophisticated technologies to conflictprone regions.
