This is, no doubt, due to the increasing attention paid to disability and human rights in the United Nations system over the past two decades and especially under the United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for People with Disabilities.

In light of the United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (General Assembly resolution 48/96) and the Committee's general comment No. 9 (2006) on the rights of children with disabilities , the Committee recommends that the State party:

51- وفي ضوء قواعد الأمم المتحدة الموحدة المتعلقة بتحقيق تكافؤ الفرص للأشخاص ذوي الإعاقات (قرار الجمعية العامة 48/96) والتعليق العام رقم 9(2006) الصادر عن اللجنة بشأن حقوق الأطفال المعوقين، توصي اللجنة بقيام الدولة الطرف بما يلي:

253. The Committee recommends that, taking into account the United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (General Assembly resolution 48/96) and the recommendations adopted by the Committee on its day of general discussion on the rights of children with disabilities held on 6 October 1997 (CRC/C/69, paras. 310-339), the State party:
253- توصي اللجنة الدولة الطرف بالقيام بما يلي، آخذة في اعتبارها قواعد الأمم المتحدة النموذجية لتحقيق تكافؤ الفرص للمعوّقين (قرار الجمعية العامة 48/96) والتوصية التي اعتمدتها اللجنة في يوم المناقشة العامة التي أجرتها في 6 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1997 بشأن حقوق الأطفال المعوّقين CRC/C/69)، الفقرات 310-339):

(h) Take into account, in this regard, the United Nations Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (General Assembly res. 48/96) and the Committee's general comment No. 9 (2006) on the rights of children with disabilities;
