2. Invites the Council of the United Nations University to adopt such statutes as may be necessary to implement these amendments.

Notes with satisfaction the implementation of the " Strategic Plan, 2000 " , which lays out broad programmatic orientations with special focus on the priority concerns of the United Nations and the need to bring together theory and practice in a global perspective, and requests the United Nations University to continue to attach importance to the priority agendas of the United Nations system;

Taking note of the proposal adopted by the Council of the United Nations University at its fifty-fifth session in December 2008 for the United Nations University to build upon its existing joint graduate programmes and to develop and implement its own postgraduate degree programmes as a part of the United Nations University strategic plan 2009-2012,
وإذ تحيط علماً بالمقترَح الذي اعتمده مجلس جامعة الأمم المتحدة في دورته الخامسة والخمسين في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2008 لتقوم بموجبه الجامعة بتعزيز برامجها المشتركة القائمة للدراسات الجامعية العليا وبإعداد وتنفيذ البرامج الخاصة بها للدرجات العليا كجزء من الخطة الاستراتيجية للجامعة لفترة 2009 -2012.

It was noted that UNESCO had also cooperated with the United Nations University to produce studies on issues related to marine biodiversity, as well as with the Global Forum on Oceans, Coasts and Islands to host the Third Global Conference on Oceans, Coasts and Islands, which had also addressed issues relating to marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction.
