After three days of intense discussion, participants made the following considerations, which they thought should be built upon in the framework of UNSPIDER when implementing assigned tasks during the biennium 2008-2009.

The Director is assisted by a programme coordinator, who is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing all UN-SPIDER activities with the support of the head of the UNSPIDER office in Bonn, Germany, the head of the future UN-SPIDER office in Beijing and the programme officer leading outreach and capacity-building activities.

The National Council of Science and Technology of Guatemala invited UNSPIDER staff to participate in a week-long mission in Guatemala to promote the use of science and technology at the academic and institutional levels.
57- دعا المجلس الوطني للعلم والتكنولوجيا في غواتيمالا موظفي برنامج سبايدر للمشاركة في بعثة مدتها أسبوع في غواتيمالا لتشجيع استخدام العلم والتكنولوجيا على المستويين الأكاديمي والمؤسسي.

Some delegations expressed the view that UN-SPIDER should continue coordinating its activities with other, existing institutions and initiatives that promoted the use of space-based solutions for disaster risk management, with a view to ensuring that there was no duplication of effort between the work of UNSPIDER and the work being carried out by those institutions and initiatives.
130- ورأت بعض الوفود أن برنامج " سبايدر " ينبغي أن يواصل تنسيق أنشطته مع المؤسسات والمبادرات الأخرى القائمة التي تروّج استخدام الحلول الفضائية لإدارة مخاطر الكوارث، منعا لأي ازدواج في الجهود بين عمل برنامج " سبايدر " والعمل الذي تضطلع به هذه المؤسسات والمبادرات.

Working Group 4 discussed knowledge management (activity 7 of the UNSPIDER workplan for the biennium 2008-2009) and capacity-building (activity 11).
18- وناقش الفريق العامل 4 موضوعي إدارة المعارف (النشاط 7 من خطة عمل برنامج سبايدر لفترة السنتين 2008-2009) وبناء القدرات (النشاط 11).

The following four aspects were identified as being relevant in planning activities to be carried out by the Office for Outer Space Affairs, through UNSPIDER and a subprogramme of the SPIDER Global Thematic Partnership for Latin America and the Caribbean:

ووافقت الجمعية، في قرارها 62/217، على أن تكون التسمية المختصرة لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة للمعلومات الفضائية من أجل إدارة الكوارث والاستجابة في حالات الطوارئ هي UN-SPIDER)) (سبايدر).

South Africa had also offered to host a UNSPIDER regional office and was making preparations for hosting the International Astronautical Congress in 2011, the first time that it would meet in Africa.
