67. The definition in Uruguayan law goes a step further than the Convention as it also covers isolated cases of enforced disappearance as crimes against humanity under title II, chapter 2.

80. As can be seen, Uruguayan law on enforced disappearance provides for appropriate penalties which take into account its extreme seriousness.

88. In no case does Uruguayan law provide for the death penalty for enforced disappearance.

With reference to the cases in which criminal acts had been punished as aggravated homicide rather than enforced disappearance, he explained that the crime of enforced disappearance had been introduced into Uruguayan law under Act No. 18026 of 2006.

76. Uruguayan law is thus quite stringent and does not permit orders or instructions from superior officers to be invoked as grounds for exemption from criminal liability under any circumstances.

75. Uruguayan law also meets the obligation under article 6, paragraph 2, of the Convention, whereby no order or instruction from any public authority, civilian, military or other, may be invoked to justify an offence of enforced disappearance.

102- ينص النظام القانوني لأوروغواي على أنه يجوز للدولة، في حال وجود شخص يشتبه بأنه ارتكب جريمة اختفاء قسري في إقليم البلد، أن تبادر إلى احتجاز الشخص المذكور أو اتخاذ تدابير قانونية أخرى لازمة لكفالة حضوره.
