It recommended creating opportunities for more women to take part in the judicial administration through appointment as judges, prosecutors, lawyers and members of village mediation units, so that they will be able to effectively promote and protect the rights and interests of women and children.
وأوصى الاتحاد باستحداث فرص لفائدة المزيد من النساء للمشاركة في إدارة العدالة بواسطة تعيينهن كقاضيات وعضوات في النيابة العامة ومحاميات وعضوات في وحدات الوساطة القروية حتى يتمكن من تعزيز حقوق ومصالح النساء والأطفال وحمايتها على نحو فعال(37).

41. Justice at the grassroots level is another aspect that the Lao PDR has concentrated on in order to develop case-free villages, improve people's legal awareness and information, improve the village mediation units and promote the role of customary rules and appropriate traditional practices of various ethnic groups in solving minor differences or disputes.
41- وتعد مسألة العدالة على المستوى الجماهيري جانباً آخر من الجوانب التي ركزت عليها جمهورية لاو من أجل النهوض بالقرى الخالية من القضايا القضائية وتحسين الوعي والمعرفة بالشأن القانوني لدى الشعب وتحسين أداء وحدات الوساطة القروية والنهوض بدور القواعد العرفية والممارسات التقليدية الخاصة بشتى المجموعات الإثنية في تسوية خلافات أو مشاجرات بسيطة.

28. CEDAW expressed concern at the high prevalence of violence against women and girls, including domestic violence; that such violence would appear to be socially legitimized and accompanied by a culture of silence and impunity; and that cases that are reported are settled out of court, including through village mediation units.
28- وأعربت اللجنة المعنية بالقضاء على التمييز ضد المرأة عن قلقها إزاء زيادة انتشار العنف ضد النساء والفتيات، بما في ذلك العنف المنزلي؛ ولأن هذا العنف قد يبدو مشروعاً من الناحية الاجتماعية ومصحوباً بثقافة قائمة على الصمت والإفلات من العقاب؛ ولأن الحالات المبلغ عنها تُسوّى خارج المحكمة، بوسائل منها وحدات الوساطة القروية(74).
