284. The objective of the subprogramme of the Section is, firstly, in accordance with article 43, paragraph 6, of the Rome Statute, to provide protective measures and security arrangements, counselling and other appropriate assistance for witnesses and victims who appear before the Court and to others who are at risk as a result of testimony given by such witnesses.

The Registrar of the Court is also required to set up a Victims and Witnesses Unit within the Registry that shall provide, in consultation with the Office of the Prosecutor, protective measures and security arrangements, counselling and other appropriate assistance for witnesses, victims who appear before the Court, and others who are at risk on account of testimony given by such witnesses.
ويتعين أيضا على مسجل المحكمة أن ينشئ وحدة للمجني عليهم والشهود داخل قلم المحكمة توفر، بالتشاور مع مكتب المدعي العام، تدابير الحماية، والترتيبات الأمنية، والمشورة، وغير ذلك من المساعدة الملائمة للشهود والمجني عليهم الذين يمثلون أمام المحكمة وغيرهم ممن يتعرضون للخطر بسبب الشهادة التي يدلي بها هؤلاء الشهود.

" 1. The Victims and Witnesses Unit shall service the Court, the defence, in all matters related to the protection afforded to all witnesses, the victims who appear before the Court and others who are at risk on account of testimony given by witnesses, in accordance with their particular needs and circumstances " .
" 1 - تقدم وحدة المجني عليهم والشهود خدماتها إلى المحكمة وإلى الدفاع في جميع الشؤون المتعلقة بحماية جميع الشهود والمجني عليهم الذين يمثلون أمام المحكمة وسائر الأشخاص المعرضين للخطر بسبب الشهادات التي يدلي بها هؤلاء الشهود، وذلك وفقا لاحتياجاتهم وظروفهم الخاصة " .

(c) In respect of witnesses, victims who appear before the Court and others who are at risk on account of testimony given by such witnesses, the functions referred to in subparagraph (b) shall be performed by the Victims and Witnesses Unit.
(ج) فيما يتعلق بالشهود والمجني عليهم الذين يمثلون أمام المحكمة وغيرهم من الأشخاص الذين قد تعرضهم شهادات هؤلاء الشهود للخطر تتولى شعبة مساعدة المجني عليهم والشهود المهام المشار إليها في الفقرة الفرعية (ب) أعلاه.

171. The task of the Witnesses Protection and Victims Participation Section is twofold: to provide protective measures and security arrangements, counselling and other appropriate assistance for witnesses and victims who appear before the Court and to others who are at risk on account of testimony given by such witnesses, and to develop and implement systems and mechanisms for reparations to victims.
171- مهمة قسم حماية الشهود ومشاركة الضحايا ذات شعبتين: أن توفر تدابير الحماية وترتيبات الأمن، والمساعدة من مستشارين قانونيين والمساعدة المناسبة الأخرى للشهود والضحايا الذين يمثلون أمام المحكمة والآخرين الذين يتعرضون لمخاطر بسبب الشهادة التي يدلي بها هؤلاء الشهود، ووضع وتنفيذ نظم وآليات لجبر أضرار الضحايا.
