Mindful that United Nations visiting missions provide an effective means of assessing the situation in those Territories and of ascertaining the wishes and aspirations of the peoples thereof regarding their future status,
وإذ تضع في اعتبارها أن بعثات الأمم المتحدة الزائرة تتيح وسيلة فعالة لتقييم الحالة في تلك الأقاليم والتحقق من رغبات وأماني شعوبها فيما يتصل بالمركز الذي تريده لنفسها مستقبلا،

1. Requests the administering Power, bearing in mind the views of the people of the Territory ascertained through a democratic process, to keep the Secretary-General informed of the wishes and aspirations of the people regarding their future political status;
١ - تطلب إلى الدولة القائمة باﻹدارة، آخذة في الاعتبار آراء شعب اﻹقليم التي جرى التحقق منها من خلال عملية ديمقراطية، أن تُبقي اﻷمين العام على علم برغبات وتطلعات هذا الشعب فيما يتعلق بوضعه السياسي في المستقبل؛

It hoped that the Government of Indonesia would do everything in its power to ensure respect for the wishes and aspirations of that people.
وهي تأمل في أن تبذل حكومة إندونيسيا كل ما في وسعها لكفالة احترام رغبات وطموحات هذا الشعب.

٢ - تطلب أيضا من الدولة القائمة باﻹدارة، آخذة في الاعتبار آراء شعب اﻹقليم التي جرى التحقق منها من خلال عملية ديمقراطية، أن تبقي اﻷمين العام على علم برغبات وتطلعات الشعب فيما يتعلق بوضعه السياسي في المستقبل؛

The Special Committee places particular importance on visiting missions to the Non-Self-Governing Territories as a means of eliciting first-hand information on the wishes and aspirations of the peoples of the Territories.
وتعلق اللجنة أهمية خاصة على البعثات الزائرة لﻷقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي، كوسيلة للحصول على معلومات مباشرة عن رغبات وطموحات شعوب تلك اﻷقاليم.

١ - تطلب إلى الدولة القائمة باﻹدارة أن تبقي اﻷمين العام على علم برغبات وآمال شعب اﻹقليم فيما يتعلق بمركزه السياسي مستقبلا، على أن تأخذ في الاعتبار آراء الشعب التي يتم التحقق منها من خلال عملية ديمقراطية؛

In that connection, the Special Committee was especially mindful of the fact that the United Nations visiting missions had provided an effective means of assessing and ascertaining the wishes and aspirations of the peoples of those Territories regarding their future status.
وفي هذا الصدد، كانت اللجنة الخاصة تدرك بصفة خاصة أن بعثات اﻷمم المتحدة الزائرة توفر وسيلة فعالة لتكوين فكرة، وعلى وجه اليقين، عن رغبات ومطامح شعوب هذه اﻷقاليم إزاء مركزها في المستقبل.

In this context, I should like, on the Committee’s behalf, to appeal to the administering Powers to facilitate the dispatch of visiting missions to Territories under their administration, as the best means of ascertaining the legitimate wishes and aspirations of the peoples.
وفي هذا السياق أود، نيابة عن اللجنة، أن أناشد الدول القائمة بالادارة أن تسهل إرسال بعثات زائرة إلى اﻷقاليم الواقعة تحت إدارتها، باعتبار ذلك هو الطريق اﻷفضل لتحقيق الرغبات والتطلعات المشروعة للشعوب.
