In accordance with instructions from my Government I have the honour to inform you that the Croatian Sabor adopted on 17 May 1996 a law that grants amnesty to all persons who committed crimes between 17 August 1990 and 1 June 1996 in the last remaining occupied part of Croatian territory, presently under the temporary administration of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Sirmium (UNTAES).

On 14 February 2008, AIU Insurance Company, Japan Branch, complying with instructions from its parent company in the United States, informed clients that it had decided to exclude a group of countries, including Cuba, from coverage under its foreign travel insurance. This has had a negative impact on the number of Japanese tourists visiting Cuba, because they face higher insurance premiums and an increase in the cost of their holiday package.
