Other aspects of the situation of rural women, namely, health-related issues and access to national machineries, will be taken up in the preparation of the reports on these critical areas of concern in the Platform for Action, which are to be submitted to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session.
وسوف تعالج الجوانب اﻷخرى لحالة المرأة الريفية، أي القضايا المتصلة بالصحة والوصول إلى اﻵليات الوطنية، في سياق إعداد التقارير عن مجالات الاهتمام البالغة اﻷهمية هذه في برنامج العمل الذي سيقدم إلى لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين.

The Commission also requested that the work plan continue to reflect all aspects of work under way and identify where obstacles/impediments exist and areas for further collaboration, and that it be made available to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fifth session and to the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session.

The Commission on the Status of Women, at its forty-third session held in March 1999, approved an optional protocol to the Convention which, if approved by the General Assembly and ratified by 10 signatory countries, will establish a complaints procedure allowing women, individually or in groups, to submit allegations of violations of the Convention to a treaty reviewing body.

15. The Division for the Advancement of Women organized an expert group meeting on national machineries for gender equality at Santiago in August 1998 to provide input to the discussion on the national machineries at the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session.
١٥ - ونظمت شعبة النهوض بالمرأة اجتماعا لفريق من الخبراء معني باﻵليات الوطنية للمساواة بين الجنسين في سانتياغو في آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٨ ﻹتاحة مادة تمنح منها المناقشة المتعلقة باﻵليات الوطنية في لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين.

324. The Committee also requested the Secretariat to provide a substantive comparative analysis of the draft optional protocol to the Convention adopted by the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session with existing United Nations treaty-based communications and inquiry mechanisms.
٤٢٣ - وطلبت اللجنة أيضا إلى اﻷمانة العامة تقديم تحليل جوهري مقارن عن البروتوكول الاختياري للاتفاقية الذي اعتمدته لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين مع اﻵليات الحالية للرسائل والاستفسار القائمة على معاهدات اﻷمم المتحدة.

1. In accordance with Economic and Social Council resolution 1995/29 of 24 July 1995, the Open-ended Working Group on the Elaboration of a Draft Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women met as an in-session open-ended working group of the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session.

6. At its 5th meeting, on 19 March, the Preparatory Committee agreed to include in its report the following summary of the general debate held by the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session on agenda item 4 of that session, which related to agenda item 2 of the Preparatory Committee:

3. The present report is intended to update the information provided in the reports to the General Assembly at its fifty-third session, in 1998 (A/53/308) and the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session, in 1999 (E/CN.6/1999/2 and Add.1).

١٣ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا إلى لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين وإلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الرابعة والخمسين عن تنفيذ هذا القرار بما في ذلك عن طريق توفير إحصاءات عن عدد النساء ونسبتهن المئوية في جميع الوحدات التنظيمية وعلى جميع المستويات في أرجاء منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة، وعن تنفيذ خطط العمل المتعلقة بالجنسين.

13. ١٣ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يقدم تقريرا إلى لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين وإلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الرابعة والخمسين عن تنفيذ هذا القرار، بوسائل منها تقديم إحصاءات عن عدد النساء ونسبتهن المئوية في جميع الوحدات التنظيمية وعلى جميع المستويات في أرجاء منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة، وعن تنفيذ خطط العمل المتعلقة بالجنسين.

The objective of the meeting was to develop a regional strategy which could become a useful tool for policy makers in helping to translate the Beijing Platform for Action into reality and to facilitate the discussion of the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session in March 1999 on the critical area of concern, institutional mechanisms for the advancement of women.

E/CN.6/1999/4 1. According to its multi-year work programme in the follow-up to the Fourth World Conference on Women (Economic and Social Council resolution 1996/6 of 22 July 1996), the Commission on the Status of Women at its forty-third session will review analytical reports on two critical areas of concern of the Beijing Platform for Action: “Women and health” and “Institutional mechanisms for the advancement of women”.
١ - وفقا لبرنامج العمل المتعدد السنوات في متابعة المؤتمر العالمي الرابع المعني بالمرأة )قرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ١٩٩٦/٦ المؤرخ ٢٢ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٦(، سوف تقوم لجنة مركز المرأة في دورتها الثالثة واﻷربعين باستعراض تقارير تحليلية بشأن إثنين من مجالات الاهتمام الحاسمة في منهاج عمل بيجين، هما: " المرأة والصحة " و " اﻵليات المؤسسية للنهوض بالمرأة " .
