The Committee is concerned about the low employment rate of women, a disproportionately high rate of unemployment of women and the prevalence of occupational segregation by gender, both horizontal and vertical, which all reflect the stereotypical perception of roles of men and women in the family and society.

329. While recognizing the State party's efforts to address the problem of stereotypes relating to the roles of women in the family and society, the Committee remains concerned at the persistence of these stereotypes and the continuing stereotypical portrayal of women in the media.
329 - ورغم إقرار اللجنة بالجهود التي تبذلها الدولة الطرف لمعالجة مشكلة القوالب النمطية عن دور المرأة في الأسرة والمجتمع فإن اللجنة لا تزال قلقة لاستمرار هذه القوالب النمطية ولاستمرار الصورة النمطية التي ترسمها وسائل الإعلام للمرأة.

188. While the Committee welcomes the development by the National Office for Women's Affairs of a methodology for eliminating sexual stereotypes in teaching materials and school textbooks, and the creation of a multisectoral commission for the application of the methodology, it expresses concern at the persistence of stereotypes concerning the role of women in the family and society.
188 - ورغم أن اللجنة ترحب بقيام المكتب الوطني لشؤون المرأة بوضع منهجية لإزالة المفاهيم النمطية الجنسية من مواد وكتب التدريس وبإنشاء لجنة متعددة القطاعات لتطبيق هذه المنهجية، إلا أنها تشعر بالقلق لاستمرار المفاهيم النمطية المتعلقة بدور المرأة في الأسرة والمجتمع.

35. In 1988, at the thirty-second session of the Commission on the Status of Women, See Official Records of the Economic and Social Council, 1988, Supplement No. 5 (E/1988/15/Rev.1). the issue of violence against women in the family and society was a priority theme under the rubric of peace.
٣٥ - وفي سنة ١٩٨٨، وأثناء الدورة الثانية والثلاثين للجنة مركز المرأة، كان موضوع العنف ضد المرأة في اﻷسرة وفي المجتمع يحتل أولوية تحت عنوان: السلم.

The fact that majority of projects addresses the subject of violence against women indicates that this problem is still present to a large extent, but also that the Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society encourages media to take an increasingly important role in its addressing, as well as in the change of the traditional position of women in the family and society.
29- ولا يدل انصراف غالبية المشروعات إلى معالجة موضوع العنف الممارس ضد المرأة على أن هذه المشكلة ما زالت منتشرة على نطاق واسع فحسب، وإنما يدل أيضاً على حرص وزارة الثقافة والإعلام ومجتمع المعلومات على دفع وسائل الإعلام إلى الاضطلاع بدور متزايد الأهمية في معالجة هذا الموضوع وفي تغيير المكانة التقليدية للمرأة في الأسرة والمجتمع.
