It is that fundamental objective which is the basis for the draft resolution proclaiming a World Week of Peace, which the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica has introduced this morning.

It is also consistent with the purposes of the United Nations Year for Tolerance, and it recognizes and stresses the important role of Disarmament Week in promoting international peace and security; indeed, the celebration of Disarmament Week will coincide with the World Week of Peace we are proclaiming.

Solemnly proclaims the World Week of Peace, beginning on 24 October 1995, to coincide with the commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations.
تعلن رسميا اﻷسبوع العالمي للسلم، إبتداء من ٢٤ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٥، ليتوافق مع الاحتفال بالذكرى السنوية الخمسين ﻹنشاء اﻷمم المتحدة.

The President drew the attention of Members to General Assembly resolution 49/244 of 12 July 1995, by which the Assembly decided to proclaim the World Week of Peace, beginning on 24 October 1995, in solemn commemoration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the United Nations.
وجﱠه الرئيس انتباه اﻷعضاء إلى قرار الجمعية العامة ٤٩/٢٤٤ المؤرخ ١٢ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٥ الذي قررت الحمعية فيه إعلان اﻷسبوع العالمي للسلم، ابتداء من ٢٤ تشرين اﻷول/أكتوبر ١٩٩٥، في إطار الاحتفال الرسمي بالذكرى السنوية الخمسين ﻹنشاء اﻷمم المتحدة.

Finally, we wish in particular to reiterate our support for the draft resolution contained in document A/49/L.66, entitled “World Week of Peace”, in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, which the countries of Central America are honoured to sponsor.
