36. The Government of the Maldives notified the designation of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives as the National preventive mechanism (NPM) in a statement issued on Human Rights Day on 10 December 2007, by the President of the Republic of Maldives.

II. DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATIONAL preventive mechanism
ثانياً - تطوير آلية الوقاية الوطنية

65. As already noted, the Maldivian authorities had notified the designation of the National Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) as the National preventive mechanism (NPM) on 10 December 2007.
65- أبلغت السلطات في ملديف، كما سبقت ملاحظته، بأنها عينت لجنة حقوق الإنسان الوطنية بوصفها آلية الوقاية الوطنية وذلك في 10كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2007.

68. During this exchange of ideas the main challenges for this new national preventive mechanism in its daily work within the country and its relationship with the SPT were discussed and analysed.
68- وأثناء هذا التبادل للآراء نوقشت وحللت التحديات الأساسية التي تواجهها آلية الوقاية الوطنية الجديدة هذه في عملها اليومي داخل البلد وعلاقتها باللجنة الفرعية لمنع التعذيب.

127. With the designation of the HRCM as the National preventive mechanism (NPM), the SPT looks forward to the development of a proactive and regular programme of visits to police stations and other police custodial facilities.
