Section IV takes stock of existing efforts by the United Nations system as a whole to integrate the three dimensions of sustainable development across the national, regional and global levels of the system.

At the same time, the prominence of climate change, sustainable management of natural resources, and sustainable consumption and production, as well as of economic issues like employment and macroeconomic stability, suggests an interest in having a more effective integration and balancing of the three dimensions of sustainable development going forward.

The main functions of the segment will be to consolidate all the inputs of Member States, the subsidiary bodies of the Council, the United Nations system and other relevant stakeholders and to promote the balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development.
وستكون المهام الرئيسية لهذا الجزء توحيد جميع إسهامات الدول الأعضاء وهيئات المجلس الفرعية ومنظومة الأمم المتحدة وغيرها من الجهات المعنية وتعزيز التكامل بين أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الثلاثة على نحو متوازن.

In its resolution 68/1, the General Assembly established the integration segment of the Economic and Social Council to consolidate all the inputs of Member States, the subsidiary bodies of the Council, the United Nations system and other relevant stakeholders and to promote the balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development.
وقد أنشأت الجمعية العامة، في قرارها 68/1، الجزء المتعلق بالتكامل للمجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي بغية توحيد جميع إسهامات الدول الأعضاء وهيئات المجلس الفرعية ومنظومة الأمم المتحدة وغيرها من الجهات المعنية وتعزيز التكامل بين أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الثلاثة على نحو متوازن.

6. The Economic and Social Council needs a strengthened issues-based approach to enhance its lead role in identifying emerging challenges and promoting reflection, debate and innovative thinking, as well as in achieving a balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development.
6 - ولا بد أن يعتمد المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي نهجا معززا يركز على المسائل لتدعيم دوره الرائد في تحديد التحديات المستجدة والتشجيع على التفكر والنقاش والتفكير بصورة مبتكرة وفي تحقيق التكامل بين أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الثلاثة على نحو متوازن.

83. We commit to strengthen the Economic and Social Council within its mandate under the Charter, as a principal organ in the integrated and coordinated follow-up of the outcomes of all major United Nations conferences and summits in the economic, social, environmental and related fields, and recognize its key role in achieving a balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development.
83 - ونلتزم بتعزيز المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في إطار الولاية المنوطة به بموجب الميثاق، باعتباره هيئة رئيسية للمتابعة المتكاملة والمنسقة للوثائق الختامية لجميع مؤتمرات الأمم المتحدة الرئيسية ومؤتمرات القمة التي تعقدها في الميادين الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والبيئية وما يتصل بها من ميادين، ونسلم بدوره الرئيسي في تحقيق التكامل بين أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الثلاثة على نحو متوازن.

The ongoing consultations on the strengthening of the Council are an opportunity to gear the Council and its subsidiary machinery towards achieving a balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development (see General Assembly resolution 66/288, annex, para. 83).
وتمثل المشاورات الجارية بشأن تعزيز المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي فرصةً لتوجيه المجلس وآليته الفرعية نحو تحقيق التكامل بين أبعاد التنمية المستدامة الثلاثة على نحو متوازن (انظر قرار الجمعية العامة 66/288، المرفق، الفقرة 83).
