In addition, the Assembly reaffirmed the role of the Committee for Programme and Coordination in the process of monitoring and evaluation and asked for proposals on the strengthening and monitoring of programme performance and evaluation, to be submitted by the Office of Internal Oversight Services, in collaboration with the Unit.

At its fifty-eighth session, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General, inter alia, to entrust the Office of Internal Oversight Services, in collaboration with the Joint Inspection Unit, with submitting to the Assembly for consideration at its sixtieth session proposals on the strengthening and monitoring of programme performance and evaluation (resolution 58/269).

1. The present report was prepared in response to General Assembly resolution 58/269, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to entrust the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), in collaboration with the Joint Inspection Unit, with submitting to the General Assembly for consideration at its sixtieth session proposals on the strengthening and monitoring of programme performance and evaluation.
