135. The anti-Rwandan feeling noted by the Special Rapporteur (see E/CN.4/1996/66, para. 26) was increased by the arrival of over 1.2 million refugees in 1994.

A third challenge noted by the Special Rapporteur was the increase in attacks against media workers and violence against journalists, including so-called " citizen journalists " .

To facilitate this, solutions and conclusions reached elsewhere should be carefully studied - such as the model of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe referred to by the Special Rapporteur in his last report (E/CN.4/1998/17, paras. 68—70).

As is pointed out by the Special Rapporteur in his report, one of the impacts of establishing a special procedure on indigenous peoples has been to stimulate awareness of indigenous issues among other human rights mechanisms and consequently increased attention in their thematic and country reports.

7. As noted by the Special Rapporteur in paragraphs 17 and 18 of his report (E/CN.4/2006/45), patriarchalism is a system of social order imposing the supremacy of men over women, although it also determines strict roles for men and even divides the sexes against themselves.

The United States of America granted unconditional support to the Zionist regime and its crimes, and was responsible for various other crimes, including the killing of civilians by unmanned drone attacks, as noted by the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights while countering terrorism, establishing secret detention centres throughout the world and using inhumane interrogation methods on detainees.

Solidarity and cooperation are of course central to the protection of persons in the event of disasters, which, as has been noted by the Special Rapporteur in his fourth report (A/CN.4/643, para. 80), is a project of the international community as a whole.

16. Decision No. 1016 adopted by the Revolution Command Council on 1 August 1978, referred to by the Special Rapporteur in paragraph 45, stipulates that the prosecution of crimes pertaining to the national economy, trade, financial confidence in the State, bribery and embezzlement, as specified in the Penal Code, shall fall within the jurisdiction of the Revolutionary Court.

However, all Member States also have extraterritorial obligations to respect, protect and support the fulfil of the right to food of people living in other countries, as pointed out by the Special Rapporteur in his report to the Commission on Human Rights (see E/CN.4/2005/47, paras. 34-59).
