In an effort to expand assistance to the least developed countries, we have participated in bilateral cooperation projects with the Economic Commission for Africa since 1995, and we plan to undertake a programme for the development of Africa for the period 1998 to 2000.

Lastly, his delegation welcomed the adoption of the Programme of Action for Africa for the period 2006-2010, designed to strengthen the rule of law and criminal justice systems in Africa, and urged the international community to support its implementation.

As a strong supporter of the Secretary-General’s initiative, the United Nations System-wide Special Initiative on Africa, my Government has participated in bilateral cooperation efforts with the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and plans to undertake a programme for the development of Africa for the period 1998-2000.

19.12 The estimated requirements relating to the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2006 would amount to $4,150,400 net ($4,539,400 gross).

Under the regional programme for Eastern Africa for the period 2009-2012, UNODC facilitated efforts to counter illicit drug trafficking through the establishment of transnational organized crime units in six pilot countries.
23- وفي إطار البرنامج الإقليمي لشرق أفريقيا للفترة 2009-2012، يسّر المكتب جهود مكافحة الاتجار غير المشروع بالمخدِّرات من خلال إنشاء وحدات لمكافحة الجريمة المنظّمة عبر الوطنية في ستة بلدان رائدة.

Under its regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014, UNODC strengthened law enforcement capacities to address financial crime and counter money-laundering in Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
فقد عزّز المكتب، ضمن برنامجه الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014 قدرات إنفاذ القانون للتصدي للجرائم المالية ومكافحة غسل الأموال في السنغال، وسيراليون، وغينيا - بيساو، ومالي.

Within the framework of its regional programme for Eastern Africa for the period 2009-2012, UNODC expanded its activities to include Ethiopia, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia and the United Republic of Tanzania.
8- قام المكتب في إطار برنامجه الإقليمي لشرق أفريقيا للفترة 2009-2012 بتوسيع أنشطته لتشمل إثيوبيا وجمهورية تنزانيا المتحدة ورواندا وسيشيل والصومال وموريشيوس.

At the meeting held on 23 June, the group was presented with an update on the implementation of the regional programme for Eastern Africa for the period 2009-2015, which covered countering trafficking, organized crime and terrorism, fighting corruption, promoting justice and integrity and improving health and human development.
٣- وخلال الاجتماع الذي عقد في 23 حزيران/يونيه، عرضت على الفريق العامل مستجدات بشأن تنفيذ البرنامج الإقليمي لشرق أفريقيا للفترة 2009-2015، شملت مكافحة الاتجار غير المشروع، والجريمة المنظمة والإرهاب، ومكافحة الفساد، وتعزيز العدالة والنـزاهة، وتحسين الصحة والتنمية البشرية.

An update on the regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014 was also presented at the meeting, outlining the results and funding status of its subprogrammes on organized crime, illicit trafficking and terrorism; justice and integrity; and drug prevention and health.
وقُدمت أيضاً خلال الاجتماع معلومات محدَّثة عن البرنامج الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014، بيَّنت نتائج وحالة تمويل برامجه الفرعية المتعلقة بالجريمة المنظمة والاتجار غير المشروع والإرهاب؛ والعدالة والنزاهة؛ والوقاية من تعاطي المخدِّرات والصحة.

26. UNODC expanded its cooperation with the regional economic communities and the NEPAD Agency through its regional programme for Eastern Africa for the period 2009-2012 and its regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014.
26 - ووسع مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة نطاق تعاونه مع الجماعات الاقتصادية الإقليمية ووكالة التخطيط والتنسيق التابعة للشراكة الجديدة من أجل تنمية أفريقيا من خلال برنامجه الإقليمي لشرق أفريقيا للفترة 2009-2012 وبرنامجه الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014.

In West Africa, UNODC supported Member States through the regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014 and its national integrated programmes aimed at implementing the regional action plan of the Economic Community of West African States to address illicit drug trafficking, organized crime and drug abuse.
24- وفي غرب أفريقيا، دعم المكتب الدول الأعضاء، من خلال البرنامج الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014 وبرامجه المتكاملة الوطنية الرامية إلى تنفيذ خطة العمل الإقليمية للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا، في التصدي للاتجار غير المشروع بالمخدِّرات والجريمة المنظمة وتعاطي المخدِّرات.

77. Under the overall framework of its regional programme for West Africa for the period from 2010 to 2014, UNODC is supporting West African Member States in addressing evolving security threats.
77 - ويقدم مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة حالياً، في الإطار العام لبرنامجه الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة الممتدة من عام 2010 إلى عام 2014، الدعم للدول الأعضاء في غرب أفريقيا في مجال التصدي للتهديدات الأمنية المتزايدة.

With regard to the Regional Office for West and Central Africa, the Advisory Committee was informed, upon enquiry, that UNODC was implementing an ambitious regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014, the total budget of which amounted to $190 million.
24- وفيما يتعلق بالمكتب الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا ووسطها، أُحيطت اللجنة الاستشارية علما، عند الاستفسار، بأنَّ المكتب يقوم بتنفيذ برنامج إقليمي طموح لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014 تبلغ ميزانيته الإجمالية 190 مليون دولار.

International cooperation gathered greater momentum with the UNODC regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014. This programme supports the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) regional action plan against drug trafficking and organized crime through collaboration among international stakeholders.
وقد تنامى التعاون الدولي عن طريق برنامجه الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014، إذ يدعم هذا البرنامج خطة العمل الإقليمية للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا لمكافحة الاتجار بالمخدّرات والجريمة المنظمة من خلال التعاون بين أصحاب المصلحة الدوليين.

The UNODC regional programme for promoting the rule of law and human security in East Africa for the period 2009-2012 also promotes a multiagency approach to combating organized crime and drug trafficking in 13 East African States, including through the establishment of units to counter transnational organized crime.
37- ويروِّج أيضاً البرنامج الإقليمي لتعزيز سيادة القانون والأمن البشري في شرق أفريقيا للفترة 2009-2012 التابع للمكتب نهجا متعدد الأجهزة لمكافحة الجريمة المنظمة والاتجار بالمخدّرات في 13 دولة في شرق أفريقيا، بسبل منها إنشاء وحدات لمكافحة الجريمة المنظمة عبر الوطنية.

Examples of successful international cooperation that were mentioned included the West Africa Coast Initiative and cooperation with the Economic Community of West African States in support of the Regional Action Plan to Address the Growing Problem of Illicit Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime and Drug Abuse in West Africa for the period 2008-2011.
وذُكرت أمثلة للتعاون الدولي الناجح، منها مبادرة ساحل غرب أفريقيا والتعاون مع الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا (الإيكواس) دعماً لخطة العمل الإقليمية لمواجهة تنامي مشاكل الاتجار غير المشروع بالمخدِّرات والجريمة المنظمة وتعاطي المخدِّرات في غرب أفريقيا للفترة 2008-2011.

In the context of its regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014, UNODC continued to support the Economic Community of West African States and its member States in the implementation of the Regional Action Plan to Address the Growing Problem of Illicit Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime and Drug Abuse in West Africa for the period 2008-2011.

Encourages the Economic Community of West African States to pursue the implementation of the Regional Action Plan to Address the Growing Problem of Illicit Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime and Drug Abuse in West Africa, and requests the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to further strengthen its efforts to support the Economic Community of West African States through its regional programme for West Africa for the period 2010-2014;
1- تشجِّع الجماعةَ الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا على مواصلة تنفيذ خطة العمل الإقليمية للتصدِّي لتنامي مشكلة الاتجار غير المشروع بالمخدِّرات والجريمة المنظمة وتعاطي المخدِّرات في غرب أفريقيا، وتطلب إلى مكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدِّرات والجريمة أن يواصل تعزيز جهوده الرامية إلى دعم الجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غرب أفريقيا عن طريق برنامجه الإقليمي لغرب أفريقيا للفترة 2010-2014؛
