The Commission requested the ESCWA secretariat to develop a Millennium Development Goals monitor for societal progress towards the realization of the Goals by: (a) supporting ESCWA member countries, according to their needs and requirements; and (b) assessing the quality of national data and development indicators, including the Millennium Development Goals.
