5- وتجدر الإشارة إلى أن لجنة مناهضة التعذيب طلبت في دورتها الحادية والأربعين التي عُقدت في تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2008 إلى الجمعية العامة أن تأذن للجنة بالاجتماع لدورة إضافية مدتها أربعة أسابيع لكل دورة في شباط/فبراير 2010 وفي شباط/فبراير 2011.

His delegation had been a sponsor of an initiative by the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child whereby the General Assembly would be requesting to authorize the Committee and its pre-sessional working group to hold an additional session.

2. In its resolution 56/229 of 24 December 2001, the General Assembly acknowledged the number of reports awaiting consideration by the Committee and decided to authorize the Committee to hold, on an exceptional basis, an extraordinary session of three weeks' duration in 2002 to be used entirely for the consideration of the reports of the States parties.
2 - وفي القرار 56/229 المؤرخ 24 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2002، أعربت الجمعية العامة عن إدراكها لعدد التقارير التي لم تنظر اللجنة فيها بعد، وقررت أن تأذن للجنة بأن تعقد، بصفة استثنائية، دورة غير عادية مدتها ثلاثة أسابيع في عام 2002، تخصص كلها للنظر في تقارير الدول الأطراف.

6. Also decides to authorize for the Committee, without prejudice to the intergovernmental process of the General Assembly on strengthening and enhancing the effective functioning of the human rights treaty body system, the addition of two weeks of meeting time per year to the existing regular sessions, starting in 2014;
6 - تقرر أيضا، دون المساس بالعملية الحكومية الدولية التابعة للجمعية العامة المعنية بتدعيم وتعزيز فعالية أداء نظام الهيئات المنشأة بموجب معاهدات حقوق الإنسان، أن تأذن للجنة بإضافة فترة اجتماعات مدتها أسبوعان سنويا إلى الدورة العادية المقررة وذلك اعتبارا من عام 2014؛

7. The representative of the Committee on the Rights of the Child pointed out that, in the light of the large number of States parties to the Convention and its two Optional Protocols, the regular submission by States parties of reports and the backlog of 90 reports that awaited consideration, it would again request the General Assembly to authorize it to meet in parallel chambers.
7 - وأشار ممثل لجنة حقوق الطفل إلى أنه نظرا لكبر عدد الدول الأطراف في الاتفاقية وبروتوكوليها الاختياريين، وإلى تقديم الدول الأطراف تقاريرها على نحو منتظم والتقارير التسعين المتأخرة التي لم يُنظر فيها بعد، فإنه سيطلب مرة أخرى من الجمعية العامة أن تأذن للجنة بأن تجتمع في غرف متوازية.

1. At its forty-fourth session, the Committee adopted a decision to request approval from the General Assembly at its sixty-fifth session authorizing the Committee to meet for an additional week per each session in 2011 and 2012, i.e. one additional week of sessional meetings in May and November 2011 and in May and November 2012, a total of four weeks.
1- اعتمدت اللجنة، في دورتها الرابعة والأربعين، قراراً بطلب الحصول من الجمعية العامة في دورتها الخامسة والستين على موافقتها على أن تأذن للجنة بالاجتماع لمدة أسبوع إضافي في كل دورة في عامي 2011 و2012، بواقع أسبوع إضافي لجلسات كل من الدورات المقررة في أيار/مايو وتشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2011، وفي أيار/مايو وتشرين الثاني/ نوفمبر 2012، بما مجموعه أربعة أسابيع.
