54. The Government equally supports the decision that the Commission on Human Rights would act as the preparatory committee for the World Conference.
٥٤ - وتؤيد الحكومة بنفس الصورة قرار أن تضطلع لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان بدور اللجنة التحضيرية للمؤتمر العالمي.

Periodic evaluations of those activities were needed in order to identify and overcome obstacles to the sustainable development of indigenous peoples, and his delegation hoped that the Commission on Human Rights would play a significant role in the follow-up to United Nations activities throughout the Decade.
وأضاف أنه يلزم إجراء تقييمات دورية لتلك اﻷنشطة من أجل تحديد العقبات التي تعترض التنمية المستدامة للشعوب اﻷصلية والتغلب على تلك العقبات، وأعرب عن أمل وفد بلده في أن تضطلع لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان بدور كبير في متابعة أنشطة اﻷمم المتحدة طوال العقد.

We hope that the Commission on Sustainable Development will play a major strategic role in this field, which is of concern to us, and that it will effectively monitor international action to achieve the Rio scenario.

٣٠ - تشير إلى قرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ١٩٩٦/٧ الذي قرر فيه المجلس أن تضطلع لجنة التنمية الاجتماعية، بصفتها لجنة فنية تابعة للمجلس، بالمسؤولية الرئيسية عن متابعة واستعراض تنفيذ نتائج مؤتمر القمة؛

2. Decides that the Commission for Social Development, as a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council, shall have the primary responsibility for the follow-up to the Summit and review of the implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development;

It is our fervent hope that the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space will play an increasingly strong role in forging links between developing and developed countries, as well as among the developing countries themselves.
