The objectives of the World Conference against Racism:
أهداف المؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية:

(ii) To declare 2001 a year of mobilization against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance with the aim of drawing the world’s attention to the objectives of the World Conference and giving new momentum to the political commitment;
' ٢ ' تُعلن عام ٢٠٠١ سنة للتعبئة ضد العنصرية والتمييز العنصري ورهاب اﻷجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب وذلك بهدف استرعاء انتباه العالم إلى أهداف المؤتمر العالمي وإعطاء الالتزام السياسي زخما جديدا؛

OHCHR has been in contact with various international sporting organizations and is discussing with them what contribution they could make to furthering the objectives of the World Conference.
وتجري المفوضة السامية اتصالات مع مختلف المنظمات الرياضية وتناقش معها ما هية الإسهام الذي يمكن أن تقدمه لتحقيق أهداف المؤتمر العالمي.

6. Promotion of tolerance and pluralism are among the objectives of the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance to be held in South Africa in 2001.
6- ويندرج تعزيز التسامح والتعددية ضمن أهداف المؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري ورهاب الأجانب والتعصب المتصل بذلك الذي سيُعقد في جنوب أفريقيا في عام 2001.

26. Cuba supports the recommendation of the Commission on Human Rights that 2001 should be declared a year of mobilization against racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance with a view to focusing international attention on the objectives of the World Conference.
٦٢- وتؤيد كوبا توصية لجنة حقوق اﻹنسان الداعية إلى إعلان عام ١٠٠٢ سنة تعبئة ضد العنصرية والتمييز العنصري ورهاب اﻷجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب، بهدف استرعاء انتباه العالم إلى أهداف المؤتمر العالمي.

11. The working group decided to consider the seven objectives of the World Conference by taking as a starting—point a document presented by the African Group, which appears as annex I to the present report.
11- وقرر الفريق العامل أن يبحث أهداف المؤتمر العالمي السبعة انطلاقاً من وثيقة قدمتها المجموعة الأفريقية وترد في المرفق الأول في هذا التقرير.

18. Other participants pointed out that the first objective, namely a review of progress made and a reappraisal of the obstacles to further progress and ways to overcome them, was one of the main objectives of the World Conference.
18- وأشار مشتركون آخرون إلى أن الهدف الأول، وهو استعراض التقدم المحرز وإعادة تقييم العقبات التي تعترض سبيل مواصلة التقدم وسبل التغلب عليها، يحتل مكاناً رئيسياً بين أهداف المؤتمر العالمي.

In this connection, the Commission invited the High Commissioner for Human Rights to submit to the Commission at its fifty—fifth session a preliminary analytical study on the objectives of the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance as identified by the General Assembly.
وفي هذا الصدد دعت اللجنة المفوضة السامية لحقوق اﻹنسان إلى أن تقدم إلى اللجنة في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين دراسة تحليلية تمهيدية عن أهداف " المؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري ورهاب اﻷجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب " كما حددتها الجمعية العامة.

55. Invites the High Commissioner for Human Rights to submit to the Commission at its fifty—fifth session, within existing financial resources, a preliminary analytical study on the objectives of the World Conference as identified by the General Assembly;
٥٥- تدعو المفوضة السامية لحقوق اﻹنسان إلى أن تقدم إلى اللجنة في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين، في إطار الموارد المالية القائمة، دراسة تحليلية تمهيدية عن أهداف المؤتمر العالمي كما حددتها الجمعية العامة؛

It was regrettable to see that women accounted for two thirds of the illiterates in the world since they thus remained excluded from the progress made towards the achievement of the goals of the World Conference on Education for All.
ومما يدعو إلى اﻷسف أن ثلثي اﻷميين في العالم هم من النساء، ولذلك فإنهن مستبعدات من التقدم المحرز نحو تحقيق أهداف المؤتمر العالمي لتوفير التعليم للجميع.

18. It should also be noted that an end-of-decade assessment of progress towards the goals of the World Conference on Education for All (EFA) is scheduled to take place at the fourth global meeting of the EFA Forum in 2000.
١٨ - وتجدر اﻹشارة أيضا إلى أنه يعتزم في أثناء الاجتماع العالمي الرابع لمنتدى التعليم للجميع الذي سيعقد في عام ٢٠٠٠ إجراء تقييم للتقدم المحرز حتى نهاية العقد نحو تحقيق أهداف المؤتمر العالمي لتوفير التعليم للجميع.

7. The Council could recommend that the end-of-decade assessment of progress towards the goals of the World Conference on Education for All be linked to the five-year reviews of other conferences.
٧ - يمكن للمجلس التوصية بربط التقييم الذي سيجري في نهاية العقد للتقدم المحرز صوب تحقيق أهداف المؤتمر العالمي المعني بتوفير التعليم للجميع بالاستعراضات التي تجرى كل خمس سنوات للمؤتمرات اﻷخرى.

١ - تعزيز الحماية الاجتماعية والحد من قلة المناعة هما هدفان مهمان من أهداف المؤتمر العالمي للتنمية الاجتماعية، الذي أوصى بحدول أعمال حافل باﻷنشطة الرامية الى إحراز تقدم بشأن تحقيق هذه اﻷهداف.

Many delegations stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in accelerating progress towards the World Summit goals.
وأكد العديد من الوفود على أهمية التعاون فيما بين الوكالات في تعجيل خطى التقدم نحو تحقيق أهداف المؤتمر العالمي.

The full implementation of the decision would represent a significant contribution to achieving the objectives of the Global Conference for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States.
