An indispensable part of the machinery is the Secretariat, and here a tribute should be paid to the Office for Disarmament Affairs, which is directed by my compatriot, the High Representative, Ambassador Sergio Duarte, and to the secretariat of the Conference on Disarmament under the Secretary-General of the Conference, Ambassador Sergei Ordzhonikidze.

15. At the same meeting the Conference received a message from the Secretary-General of the United Nations that was delivered by the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament, Mr. Sergei Ordzhonikidze.

8. On 27 November 2003, the Meeting was opened by the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament, Mr. Sergei Ordzhonikidze.

10. Mr. Ordzhonikidze (Russian Federation) conveyed, on behalf of the States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, condolences to the people and Government of Israel on the recent terrorist attack in Tel Aviv and expressed his vigorous condemnation of that act.

At its first plenary meeting on 27 November, the Meeting of the States Parties received a message from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, which was delivered by the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva and Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament, Mr. Sergei Ordzhonikidze.

60. Mr. Ordzhonikidze (Russian Federation) said that March 1994, which would mark the sixtieth anniversary of the birth of Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, would provide an opportunity to consider the past and the future direction of humanity's activities in space.
٦٠ - السيد أوردزونيكيدزي )الاتحاد الروسي(: قال إن شهر آذار/مارس ١٩٩٤، الذي سيوافق الذكرى السنوية الستين لميلاد يوري غاغارين رجل الفضاء اﻷول، سوف يتيح فرصة للنظر في اتجاه أنشطة اﻹنسان في الفضاء ماضيا ومستقبلا.
