In a statement delivered before the Special Committee at Damascus on 22 May, Mr. Taher Al-Husami, Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic, referred to the situation in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan and stated in that connection:

2. The Government of the Syrian Arab Republic has vested the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with responsibility for implementing Security Council resolution 1540 (2004), in coordination with all the national authorities concerned in the Syrian Arab Republic, and the required national report has been prepared accordingly.
2 - أناطت حكومة الجمهورية العربية السورية مسؤولية تنفيذ قرار مجلس الأمن رقم 1540/2004 بوزارة الخارجية السورية - إدارة المنظمات والمؤتمرات الدولية وذلك بالتنسيق مع كافة الجهات الوطنية المعنية في سورية، التي قامت بموجب ذلك بإعداد التقرير الوطني المطلوب.

The Government of the Syrian Arab Republic has entrusted the responsibility for implementing Security Council resolution 1540 (2004) to the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of International Organizations and Conferences in coordination with all national authorities concerned in the Syrian Arab Republic, and the required national report has been prepared accordingly.
وقد أناطت حكومة الجمهورية العربية السورية مسؤولية تنفيذ قرار مجلس الأمن رقم 1540 (2004) بوزارة الخارجية السورية - إدارة المنظمات والمؤتمرات الدولية وذلك بالتنسيق مع كافة الجهات الوطنية المعنية في سورية، التي قامت بموجب ذلك بإعداد التقرير الوطني المطلوب.
