59. The Security Council, in its resolution 1355 (2001), stressed the need for an increased public information capacity, including the establishment of United Nations radio stations to promote understanding of the peace process and the role of MONUC among local communities and parties.

69. Taking into account the difficulties described above, and the fact that local elections are still to be held, the Advisory Committee fully supports the establishment of a United Nations radio station in Haiti and the related resource requirements, including staff, as noted above.
