In its resolution 1996/6, the Council decided that the Commission's agenda would annually include a sub-item 3 (b) on emerging issues, trends and new approaches to issues affecting the situation of women or equality between women and men, and requested the Secretary-General to prepare a report on emerging issues under that sub-item, as appropriate, at the request of the Commission or its Bureau.
