His delegation welcomed the successful conclusion of the preparatory work for an international convention against corruption and took the view that that instrument should contribute to the achievement of important objectives, such as the efficient functioning of States, transparency in the adoption of major decisions and the promotion of confidence in the authorities and the business sector.
