43. The chairperson of the meeting of the treaty bodies has requested a second meeting in 1996 with the Secretary-General and the High Commissioner to follow up on the previous discussions, and has also raised the issue of the granting of special status to the treaty bodies in their participation in United Nations meetings and conferences.
