2. (g) As a matter of priority and urgency, eliminate discriminatory legislation and gender-based customs and practices, which perpetuate the exploitation of women and children and the use of violence against them;
(ز) أن تقوم، على سبيل الأولوية والاستعجال، بإلغاء التشريعات التمييزية والعادات والممارسات التي تقوم على اختلاف نوع الجنس والتي تديم استغلال النساء والأطفال واستعمال العنف ضدهم؛

The exodus of Iraqi families to neighbouring countries in search of safety and stability and the concomitant loss of basic needs produced despair, poverty and want, which aggravated this phenomenon. The combination of these factors led to exploitation of women and children by white slave traders, who pressed them into prostitution both inside Iraq and abroad.
