4. The Group, therefore, requests the Secretary-General to prepare another report, not later than March 1999, on the utilization of the Development Account for the biennium 1998–1999 for submission to the General Assembly for consideration, taking fully into account the views expressed above.

The current proposals have been formulated by individual entities comprising the Executive Committee, in the context of these broad objectives, as well as in the light of the report of the Secretary-General on utilization of the Development Account (A/52/848).

7. As recalled in paragraph 4 above, the indicative target of cumulative savings of some $200 million was mentioned in a subsequent note of the Secretary-General on the utilization of the Development Account (A/52/848).

3. In addition to the documents listed in A/52/744 and Add.1 and 2, the Committee had before it a note by the Secretary-General on the utilization of the Development Account (A/52/848) and the related report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (A/52/894).
٣ - وباﻹضافة إلى الوثائق الواردة في A/52/744 و Add.1 و 2، كان معروضا على اللجنة مذكرة من اﻷمين العام بشأن استغلال حساب التنمية A/52/848)( وتقرير اللجنة الاستشارية لشؤون اﻹدارة والميزانية ذو الصلة A/52/894)(.

The Secretary-General reiterated the same concept in his note on the utilization of the Account (A/52/848), where he proposed that funds appropriated for the Account be treated as a multi-year project and any unexpected balance appropriation for the Account at the end of the biennium be carried forward to the succeeding bienniums.
