The funding obligation in the Convention with respect to adaptation is different from that for mitigation; under Article 4.4 of the Convention, the obligation is to " assist " developing country Parties that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change in meeting costs of adaptation to those adverse effects (United States, MISC.5).
