The Subcommittee noted that, through the Charter, areas affected by a disaster could have access to satellite imagery from Radarsat, SPOT, the European remote sensing satellite (ERS) and, in the future, Envisat, as well as data interpretation services, by means of a telephone call.

Those space resources include the coordinated use of Earth observation satellites like RADARSAT, the Satellite pour l'observation de la Terre (SPOT), the European remote sensing satellite (ERS) and soon the Environmental Satellite (Envisat) and ground facilities to produce data imaging.

والبيانات التي يوفرها الساتلان المحلّقان فـي مـدار قطـبي (الساتل التابع للادارة الوطنية للمحيطات والغلاف الجوي (NOAA) والساتل الأوروبي للاستشعار عن بعد (ERS-2)) تستخدم أساسا لأغراض رسم خرائط البحار المتجمدة ورصد نوعية المياه، بينما تستخدم الصـور المأخـوذة مـن الساتلين لاندسات وساتل رصد الأرض (SPOT) في عمليات جرد استخدام الأراضي والنباتات منذ عام 1975.

Several presentations stressed that radar imagery, such as the images received from the Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite RADARSAT-1 and the European remote sensing satellite ERS-2, was useful to several hazard themes, in particular flood monitoring, oil spills, snow and ice storms, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
35- كما شددت عدة عروض أخرى على أن التصوير الراداري، مثل الصور المتلقاة من الساتل الكندي المزوّد برادار ذي فتحة اصطناعية (رادارسات - 1)، والساتل الأوروبي للاستشعار عن بعد (إرس - 2) هو وسيلة مفيدة في معالجة عدة مواضيع تتعلق بأخطار طارئة، وخصوصا رصد الفيضانات وتسرّب النفط، والعواصف الثلجية والجليدية، والانفجارات البركانية والهزات الأرضية.

Data provided by polar orbiting satellites (those of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States of America, the European remote sensing satellite ERS-2, Radarsat and Envisat) are largely used for snow cover monitoring, sea ice mapping and oil spill detection.
8- والبيانات التي توفرها السواتل القطبية المدار (سواتل الإدارة الوطنية لدراسة المحيطات والغلاف الجوي التابعة للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية) والساتل الأوروبي للاستشعار عن بعد (ERS-2)، والساتل Radarsat، والساتل Envisat) تستخدم في الأغلب لرصد الغطاء الثلجي ورسم خرائط للجليد البحري وكشف حوادث انسكاب النفط.
