2. The activities to be carried out would relate to programme 24, Management and central support services, of the medium-term plan for the period 2002-2005, as revised (A/57/6/Rev.1), and section 29, Management and central support services, of the programme budget for the biennium 2004-2005 (A/58/6 (sect. 29A and B)).

Deep disappointment was expressed about the fact that programme managers for the Management and central support services had not implemented fully regulation 5.6 of the Regulations and Rules Governing Programme Planning, the Programme Aspects of the Budget, the Monitoring of Implementation and the Methods of Evaluation by deleting from their proposals outputs and activities that were obsolete, irrelevant, ineffective, or marginally useful.

The activities to be carried out relate to: programme 6, General Assembly and Economic and Social Council affairs and conference services; subprogramme 2, Gender issues and advancement of women of programme 7, Economic and social affairs; and subprogramme 4, Support services of programme 24, Management and central support services of the medium-term plan for the period 2002-2005.

Transfers between sections are limited to 46 posts transferred from section 27 (Management and central support services) to section 2 (General Assembly affairs and conference services) as follows: 40 posts (2 P-5, 8 P-4, 15 P-3, and 15 Local level) relating to conference services in Nairobi (section 27G) and 6 posts (1 P-2 and 5 General Service (Other level)) from Administration, Geneva (section 27E).
