We have an Action Plan on Chernobyl and we are supporting the Decade of Recovery and Sustainable Development.

The objectives are to develop and implement policies, programmes and partnerships that increase the capacity to prepare, respond and mitigate the risks to health during crises, and support Recovery and Sustainable Development.

The 2007 General Assembly resolution on Chernobyl designated the period of 2006 to 2016 as the Decade of Recovery and Sustainable Development for Chernobyl-affected Regions.

We expect the Agency to participate actively in the implementation of the United Nations Action Plan on Chernobyl to 2016 and in the Decade of Recovery and Sustainable Development of the Affected Regions.

In that connection, we are convinced that it is necessary that the work in the Decade of Recovery and Sustainable Development of the Affected Regions (2006-2016), as proclaimed by resolution 62/9, be continued and stepped up.
