Turning lastly to the topic of treaties over time, her delegation supported the Commission's decision to appoint the Chair of the Study Group as Special Rapporteur for the topic " subsequent agreements and subsequent practice in relation to the interpretation of treaties " but considered it premature to comment on the six additional preliminary conclusions by the Chair of the Study Group.

Ms. McLeod (United States of America), referring first to the topic of subsequent agreements and subsequent practice in relation to the interpretation of treaties, said that her delegation commended the Commission for its rapid consideration of draft conclusions by the Commission's Drafting Committee.

An understanding of how different adjudicatory bodies made use of subsequent agreements and practice could afford a broader view of the coherent application and integrated interpretation of treaties in accordance with the principles reflected in article 31 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties.
