Many delegations underscored the primacy of radio as the most used and available traditional medium and expressed widespread support for the pilot project for the development of an international radio broadcasting capacity for the United Nations and the role of the Department in enabling developing nations to meet their information and communications needs.
وقد أبرز عدد كبير من الوفود تفوق الإذاعة بوصفها أكثر وسائل الاتصال التقليدية استخداما وتوافرا، وأعربوا عن تأييد واسع للمشروع النموذجي المتعلق بتطوير قدرة الأمم المتحدة على البث الإذاعي الدولي ولدور إدارة شؤون الإعلام في تمكين الأمم النامية من تلبية احتياجاتها في مجال المعلومات والاتصال.

The Department of Public Information offered to appoint a focal point to coordinate the development of the system-wide approach to the cooperation in the field of television, as well as the further development of the United Nations News Service on the Internet and the development of an international radio broadcasting capacity for the Organization.
وعرضت إدارة شؤون الإعلام أن تعين مركز اتصال لتنسيق وضع نهج على نطاق المنظومة للتعاون في ميدان التلفزيون، فضلا عن المضي قدما في تطوير الخدمة الإخبارية للأمم المتحدة على شبكة الانترنت وتطوير قدرة المنظمة على البث الإذاعي الدولي.

It supported the Department's commitment to the principle of multilingualism and equality of official languages and the delivery of equal information services, both in quantity and quality, for Member States, as well as efforts to ensure language parity on the website, in the News Service, and in the international radio broadcasting service.

33. A firm mandate from Member States to continue this international broadcasting capacity will ensure that radio continues to contribute, cost-effectively, to the overall goal of the Department of Public Information, namely, to generate understanding about the United Nations and all the priority issues and concerns that Member States of the Organization have said the world must be informed about.
33 - وسوف تسمح ولاية ثابتة من الدول الأعضاء لمواصلة هذه القدرة على البث الإذاعي الدولي بكفالة أن تستمر الإذاعة في المساهمة بصورة فعالة من حيث التكلفة في بلوغ الهدف العام لإدارة شؤون الإعلام، وهو تكوين فهم للمسائل المتعلقة بالأمم المتحدة وبالقضايا والاهتمامات التي قالت الدول الأعضاء في المنظمة إنه يجب إعلام العالم بشأنها.
