The Fund also serves to encourage and promote the conduct of cooperative and collaborative research in order to extend knowledge of the marine living resources of the Antarctic marine ecosystem.
ويعمل الصندوق على تشجيع وتعزيز إجراء البحوث التعاونية والتشاركية بما يوسِّع نطاق المعلومات المتعلقة بالموارد البحرية الحيّة في النظم البحرية الإيكولوجية بالقارة المتجمدة الجنوبية.

The purpose of the Fund is to secure wider participation in the work of the Commission's Scientific Committee, to promote burden-sharing and build capacity within the Committee, and to assist with the collection, study and exchange of information relating to the marine living resources to which the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic marine living Resources applies.

A preliminary estimate of the cost of establishing and operating the Secretariat for the first four-year phase, where the focus would be on living marine resources only, is in the order of US$ 1.5 million.
ويصل تقدير أولي لتكلفة إنشاء وتشغيل الأمانة خلال مرحلة السنوات الأربع الأولى، حيث سيكون التركيز على الموارد البحرية الحيّة وحدها، إلى مبلغ 1.5 مليون دولار من دولارات الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

The most important conservation measures that have been adopted to support the sustainable management and conservation of marine living resources are conservation measure 22-06 (Bottom fishing in the Convention Area) and conservation measure 22-07 (Bottom fishing activities subject to conservation measure 22-06).
