١ - استعراض وتقييم حالة البيئة في المنطقة وتسليط اﻷضواء على الشواغل البيئية الرئيسية، حيث يوفر المنظور اﻹقليمي للقضايا ميزة واضحة، وذلك بغية التشجيع على إدماج الشواغل البيئية في سياسات واستراتيجيات وخطط وبرامج التنمية لﻷعضاء واﻷعضاء المنتسبين، على كل من الصعيدين الاقتصادي الكلي والقطاعي.

9. Review and assess the state of the environment in the region and highlight the major environmental considerations with a view to encouraging the integration of such concerns into development policies, strategic plans and programmes at the macroeconomic and sectoral levels and facilitating policy dialogues, training and exchange of experiences.

It provides an update of the environmental situation, based on the scientific results obtained through the surveys and assessments carried out under and in relation to the Inter-agency Plan of Action for the Region Covered by the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) and briefly describes United Nations initiatives to mitigate the adverse effects of the conflict and rehabilitate the environment in the region.

116. The resolution stresses the necessity of the urgent conduct of an environmental operation, and calls for assessment of the short-term and long-term impact of the fires on the environment of the region and its rehabilitation.
116 - ويؤكد القرار ضرورة القيام، على وجه السرعة، بعملية لحماية البيئة، ويدعو إلى تقييم آثار الحرائق على البيئة في المنطقة في الأجلين القصير والطويل، وإلى تأهيل المنطقة.

29. The NAPs draw up an inventory of the environment in the area affected by land degradation and identify priorities for action using the results of scientific research and assessments carried out.
